Idealised Output Model

Other sections in this Costing Principles and Methods part of the web site provide detailed discussion of the major cost of crime categories. The Idealised output template provides a summary listing of the categories in a single table. By comparing this with the output of other studies, such as the Home Office model, it is possible to identify readily the shortcomings of existing work. More constructively, it provides a basis for developing a research programme to fill the gaps. Some of these issues are pursued further in the Future Development part of the site.

  • What are the principal gaps in data from sources such as the EU International Crime Victims Survey?
  • Are there national crime surveys that provide specimen questions that could be asked in order to collect the data needed to fill some of these gaps?
  • What gaps would still remain in relation to the Idealised output template?
