Property Loss

Property loss may result from a wide range of crimes, although it will be most pronounced for the offence types referred to as ‘property crimes’ such as burglary, theft and robbery. The loss may result from items being stolen or damaged.

Property loss is most often estimated by means of crime victim surveys, although in the context of offences reported to the police there may be a record of the victim’s estimate of the value of items lost.
